I had a lovley time at the Stokefest in Clissold park last Sunday, surrounded by excellent music and some lovely old friends...
Found it difficult to move from the Sunday Revelator stage, which was consistantly brilliant all day, serving up rockabilly/punk/surf/rockin' sounds, One great band after another; Blood Safari, The Rosinators, the Fabulous Penetrators, Bikini Beach band, and loads more, which mean't I missed loads of other stuff going on, and chatting to many of my old squat party mates who were all hanging around the Bassline circus tent, which I found just too heavy, serious, and downbeat a vibe for me, for some reason....maybe it's my great age or something, but the energetic and exciting sounds resonating from revelator were much more my cup of tea...They were uplifting. Whoever Charlie Hangdog is, he can sure put on a good show, and I'd love to meet him.
Plus I have always loved a good quiff, and there were plenty of fine dandies on display. It's always easy to wish retrospectively that I hadn't been so drunk in charge of a camera, but there you go...
Ah well, the last festival of the season, and the sun shone all day. It's a damn shame to have to wait till next June until I can get drunk listening to great music in a field again...

Well, Maths (wonderful maths!) wasn't so bad last night. I knew about decimals, thanks to the modern pound and all...
So uplifted was I, that I recommenced the terrifying business of trying to work out how and where ,to apply for the pgce...
So far there's a prospectus coming, and I've registered with GTTR. The whole thing is as I say, terrifying, and even in moments when I think I'll be able to blag my way through the application form, the horror of the interview (should I be lucky enough to get one) dawns on me...I mean how am I gonna sound these days...competent in anything much?

A good family day was had out yesterday at the Thames festival. Good old Ken, I say, I think this was a great thing for Londoners, a fun day out with a real festival vibe. Anyway, first we met up with some Urban 75ers at Pronghorn, which was very nice. Ace wore her shades and just practised being cool. I tried to thank Big G in person for sending me back my phone from Endorse-it, but it turns out he wasn't playing, but another band member ensured he'd pass my message on.
Then we strolled along the Thames which was a bit hectic actually, heavy duty with the buggy because everywhere was so crowded, but we managed to catch the Splott Brothers who were funny, the kids loved 'em, and variously entertainment ending up at sunset in the excellent playground next to the London eye.

How bad were my photos? Truely bloody awful.
I'd gone to the Thames festival actually thinking I might take a photo suitable for entry to the mayors comp. but brought home the worst set ever. Now I know a very big problem is the enormous time lapse between actually pressing the button and the photo being taken, and I had had a couple of beers...but really, this was abysmal.
I think I just get worse with time. Posted by Picasa

Ace, who is fast becoming the best photgrapher in the house took this lovley family shot.

It's been that long since I posted up some pictures, I forgotten how to the thing works properly...
Anyway, here's some of the Vauxhall Tribes event I went to with Ace on Saturday. (Don't even think about the car connection,, it was local and free, plus the cars they had on display were so ridiculously uncool, as to be counterproductive to their PR aims. I said they should of raffled one, and that would have made the evening really fun!)

Ace was the perfect companion, even though it wasn't really her cup of tea. She had her mp3 player and did try to listen to her own music for while, but then it got too loud. The uk scratch champions were just too difficult, but the dancing was really exciting and we stood right at the front of the stage. One troup had danced with Madonna and Gwen Steffani, and another was made up of of an age range between about 7 and 20, sweet. But the act Ace liked the best though, were the human beatboxes; Beardy man, who I'd already seen at Urban75 offline do, and two others who were just awesome. All in all a nice night out with my daughter, but my ears are still hurting three days later

This blogger thing is forcing my hand. Why oh why has my side bar relocated at the bottom of the page??? Grrr...Two days I've been trying to sort this, and nothing seems to work. It's just a wind up, and one that I could do without...

So last night my attempt to gain one of life's most basic academic qualifications began...
I felt an overwhelming lack of enthusiasm I must say, athough didn't expect to find it so hard on the very first lesson. It seems finding the square root of numbers is too much for my brain to grasp, and I think the teacher is already frustrated with me. The room is airless and crammed, and I was sweating profusely by the end, I must try and be more fragrant, so's at least I can raise my hand without paranoia...
The only good thing about all this, is that Vee and Ace were brilliant when I got home, and explained square roots much better than the teacher had managed, so...well you never know.
